Seminar Schedule:

This is a self paced course that is mandatory and approved for the State of California.

All notary candidates will have three months to complete the course study and submit the affidavit indicating that they have studied the required 6 hours as mandated by California Government Code section 8201. The Certificate of Completion is valid for 2 years from the Original Issuance date. Once the notary candidate is comfortable with the material, he/she is responsible to register and take the state proctored notary exam.  Please contact Cooperative Personnel Services at http://www.cps.ca.gov/takeAtest/Notary/ or you can call 916-263-3520 for  the testing schedule dates and locations.    

Home Study Seminar Fee:

Payment is accepted in the form of Check, Money Order, or PayPal and due upon receipt of your invoice.  Seminar registration is available by completing the form below.

This fee does not included the California Notary Commission fee of $40 required for the state proctored exam.  This is a separate check. money order or cashier's check made payable to the California Secretary of State for your notary public commission.  (Do not include this fee with the seminar registration.)  Proctors can accept checks and money orders only, NO CASH OR CREDIT CARDSNOTE:  Checks & money orders to proctors must include the last 4 digits of your social security number written in the memo field.

Please bring your picture id for registration to the state proctored exam in addition to the 2" x 2" color passport photo.

Please visit the Secretary of State's Website to obtain a copy of the Current Official California Notary Public Handbook . In the download section, there are study guides for your use, in addition to other material that may be testable materials or future reference.   The AB 886 includes all of the new changes applicable for 2008.  Lastly, the test covers disciplinary actions available to all notaries in California.  The Disciplinary Guidelines introduces this possible testing material. An important note, the state tends to test heavily on the most recent legislative changes and immigration matters concerning the Notary Public in California.  The additional items can also be obtained in the "Notary Public" section of this website.

Test Studying Tips:

Useful tips for studying prior to the seminar.  You will receive all the information necessary to pass the California Proctored State Notary Exam during the seminar.  There are things that can be memorized prior to the seminar that will assist you during the test.  All the information is in the current Official California Notary Handbook.

 STUDY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SUCCESSFUL PASSING OF THE CALIFORNIA STATE NOTARY CLASS/EXAM ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT

What to bring with you the day of the proctored exam.....

Most importantly, please come rested to the exam.  This is very important to your success.

Valid Picture Id for the proctors prior to the state exam.  $40.00 check made payable to the Secretary of State.  This is a fee to obtain your notary commission. (Do not include this fee with the seminar registration.)  Proctors can not accept cash or credit cards, checks and money orders only.  Be sure to write the last four numbers of your social security number on the check or money order you are presenting to the proctor.

All applicants appointed or reappointed as a notary public on or after January 1, 2008, are required to attach a 2" x 2" color passport photo of their person to the back of the completed notary public application form.
